In February he recorded a new BOO! album in Amsterdam, the first since 2003, to be released later in the year. The recording saw him and former BOO! bandmate Ampie Omo joining creative forces once again, and Chameleon, Omo and Riaan van Rensburg (on drums) recently blew Ramfest festivalgoers away with what was BOO!’s first on-stage performance in five years. Chris was recently seen portraying the role of doctor-turned-lawyer Thomas Badenhorst on M-Net TV programme Binnelanders, with his character returning to the screen later in the year. In August, Chris Chameleon and his BOO! band mates will be touring the much-anticipated album in South Africa as well as Europe, and in October and November Chris will be back on the theatre stages of Belgium and The Netherlands, with plans to release another Afrikaans album at the end of 2010 or first half of 2011. Chris Chameleon's 2010 SAMA nominations
The South African Music Award (SAMA) nominations announcement event was held on 4 March 2010 and Chris Chameleon and his "Kyk Hoe Lyk Ons Nou" album have been nominated in three categories this year. One is for BEST MALE ARTIST - this is the third year in a row Chris has been nominated for this top award. He was also nominated for BEST CONTEMPORARY AFRIKAANS ALBUM. In addition, Theo Crous was nominated as BEST PRODUCER for his work on "Kyk Hoe Lyk Ons Nou." The award ceremonies are being held on 16 and 17 April. The Chameleon camp has been rather quiet lately with good reason! Chris just recently returned from 3 weeks of recording the next Boo! album (with Ampie Omo and Riaan van Rensburg) in highly esteemed producer, Frans Hagenaar’s studio in the Netherlands. Though the album will not be finished for another two months, it’s still full Boo! ahead. Back from the Benelux

Chris Chameleon "Kyk hoe lyk ons nou" kykNET series starts 1 November
Chris Chameleon was approached by kykNET in 2008 to be the presenter of a new documentary series "Kyk hoe lyk ons nou.." In the series Chris and a camera team travels through South Africa to learn about the Afrikaans community's way of thinking, doing and communicating. "Kyk hoe lyk ons nou" will be be aired on kykNET on Sundays from 1 - 22 November at 20h00, with repeats on Mondays and Tuesdays. Chris also wrote the theme song "Altyd Tuis" for the series. Chris returned from the trip with so much inspiration and ideas for new songs, that a whole new album was created. "Kyk Hoe Lyk Ons Nou" was released earlier this year. Theater Tour 2009 to Belgium and The Netherlands
After a year that has seen Chris Chameleon perform a rock show tour in Europe, award-winning sold-out performances at South Africa’s most prestigious festivals, at the Mandela Day Concert as one of the South African representatives in Radio City Music Hall, New York City, a successful nation-wide tour with the large SAMA-award nominated production, Klassieke Chameleon, and finally performing at the 10th Anniversary of South Africa’s largest on-stage production, Skouspel; Chris Chameleon is ready head for some of Belgium and the Netherlands’ most renowned theaters. This is the third consecutive year that Chris has been invited back to perform in theaters across the Netherlands, a tour organized by Kik Productions (www.kikproductions.nl), and the first year that he makes his Belgian stage debut in a tour organized by Cultura vof (www.culturavof.be). Of this year’s tour, Chris says "It’s exciting to still be able to present myself to so many new audiences after so many years in Europe. I haven’t been in most of these theaters and this is a good example of how large the scene in those countries is compared to what we enjoy in South Africa. Every year I add a few more skills to my bag of tricks and I can’t wait to let the monkey loose on the Dutch and Belgian audiences. They are a rather discerning bunch of theater-goers and generally I take their response as a good indicator of the effectiveness of my performance innovations." Theater-goers also have two new album releases to look forward to: In early 2009, Chris Chameleon released "Kyk Hoe Lyk Ons Nou" - a CD inspired by a documentary on Afrikaans speakers of which Chris was the presenter and narrator. Three years in the making, this 4-part documentary airs in November 2009 in South Africa. This year’s theater performances will feature popular tracks such as "Apie," "Eiland," and "Taal van die Liefde" amongst others. And a special release is being printed specifically for this tour, titled "Chris Chameleon: Live at the Folkwoods Festival" which is a live recording by Dutch Radio broadcaster NOS, of Chris’ performance at the Folkwoods festival in 2007 in Eindhoven. Truly a unique and magical recording which captures Chris’ live spirit as well as popular live songs which are not featured on any of his solo releases. Netherlands tour ROCKED
Chris Chameleon is back in South Africa after an exciting rock tour to the Netherlands. Joined by guitarist Rob Capewell, Johan van Wyk on bass, and Dehan Potgieter on drums, Chris and the band played at festivals and for packed venues from 29 April - 7 May in Utrecht, Eindhoven, Tilburg, Gouda, Den Bosch, Amsterdam, and Arnhem. Fans have been posting videos on YouTube if you'd like to see some of the action. We've also uploaded some photos from the tour to his Facebook musician page (see link below). Chris then wrapped up the tour with a solo show in a standing room only crowd in Cafe Patronaat in Haarlem on 9 May. Chris will be returning to Belgium and The Netherlands again in October/November for another theater tour. The shows will be posted shortly on the gig guide. At this years week-long Klein Karoo National Arts Festival, Chris Chameleon took home the prestigious KANNA award for BEST MALE PERFORMER at the festival. The competition for this award was amongst some of South Africa's most talented actors, musicians and entertainers. In the Studio
Chris is currently in the studio with producer Theo Crous, recording a new Afrkiaans album titled, "Kyk Hoe Lyk Ons Nou." It’s already clear that Chris and Theo have created an exciting new sound which is quite unlike his first three albums. The music will be featured in a KykNet documentary, "Kyk Hoe Lyk Ons Nou" (Look At Us Now) which looks at the evolution of Afrikaans and its speakers. The album will be released in mid-March 2009.

Back from Europe
Chris Chameleon recently wrapped up an incredible theater tour in some of the Netherlands’ most prestigious venues. Many shows were sold out or full, and the feedback from the audiences was always glowing and enthusiastic. Chris' new CD
Made Available is a taste of Chris Chameleon's music making passion for the last 17 years and an insight into the process involved in recording... and now is being Made Available to you. Produced by Kevin Leicher at Dark Star Studios in Johannesburg, this album was intended to explore a new approach for his next studio project but the final product was so pleasing to Chris' ear that he decided to make this pre-production album available online and at live gigs. This 15-track album is a collection of songs that Chris had written over the last 20 years, some of which had never been recorded before. The tracks are: 1. Morning is Broken: This song is a collaboration between Chris Chameleon and Somerfaan. At Nel approached Chris to write the lyrics to the song and sing it on the recording - which Chris did 3 days and 60 stitches later, after being attacked in his home in 2004. 2. Good to be True: This song was performed by Boo! and originally included on their first album, the "Banana Flava" live album. 3. Singulai: Written in 2003 and finally on an album! 4. Rested Defences: This soulful version features local soul diva Khethi Ntshangase on backing vocals with a new, as yet unheard chorus. 5. All of Me: Initially called "Avrocado Pair" which was a happy-go-lucky song performed by Boo!, it’s updated incarnation is now in a hauntingly honest form. Look out for the incredible animation video of this song, soon to hit television and YouTube. 6. Changes: Written in 1993 and rejected by Chris’ then band, Blue Chameleon. 7. Wishbone: A more sparkly version of "Wishboan" from Boo!’s 2000 album "Naughties." 8. Days Like This: This song was inspired by the September 11 attack in New York and written shortly thereafter while Chris was on tour in the USA. 9. Right in My Wrong Turn: About 15 years old, this song has never been performed live and had never been recorded until now. 10. One Day Wonder: This song was performed back in Blue Chameleon days and was called "Yes Humphrey." 11. OOAA: Another attempt at a hard-to-record classic. 12. Simunye: A live recording of this song from a gig in North Carolina appeared on the 2002 SAMA winning "Shooting Star" album. 13. Walking in Flames: Also written in the USA in 2002 and making its album debut. 14. Come: This acoustic version comes from Levi’s CD 4 album released in 2005. 15. Here Comes The Night: Written in 1991 and first recorded as a technological remix on Boo!’s "The 3Boo?dists." "All of Me" is the first video from Chris Chameleon’s latest album, "Made Available," and also his first solo foray into animated videos. Conceptualized by Chris, the video was brought to life by an exceptional collaboration between two top-notch design companies, Shotopop (UK) and WIZZ (FR). Directed by Casper Franken of Shotopop, the majority of the video-making magic occurred at the WIZZ studios in Paris, France. Its making involved the design and creation of intricate paper cut-outs, combined with an elaborate set design, careful filming and incredible 3-D animated graphics. UK dates to kick off upcoming European Tour
Chris Chameleon is scheduled to kick of his European tour with 3 performances in London. On 15 & 16 October, Chris will be performing an intimate solo show at the Aardvark Pub in Rotherhithe. Chris Chameleon is renowned for the phenomenal versatility of his endless creative endeavours. He moves with remarkable ease between Afrikaans and English, Contemporary, Rock and Classical. According to his fans Chris is ëmesmerizing’ to watch. His impressive 4 octave voice work and intelligent stage personality has inspired many standing ovations at his shows. Chris Chameleon`s new production "Driekuns" is set to surprise his fans yet again. For the first time since his Boo! days, Chris is back on bass, accompanied by Jonathan Crossley on guitars, Riaan van Resnburg on percussion and Ampie Omo on keyboard, trumpet, trombone and percussion. Chris performs new compositions of his own hits, as well as some personal favourites, including a few Boo! classics. A special element to "Driekuns" is that it is the first time since the Boo! split, that Chris has teamed up with Ampie Omo on stage again. "Driekuns" opened at the Volksbladfees in Bloemfontein on 9 July: The 1000-seater Sand du Plessis Theatre was sold out for both of the two "Driekuns" shows. Europe wrap-up
Chris Chameleon has just finished up his whirlwind 2 week tour of The Netherlands and Belgium playing to sold-out crowds in clubs, a full tent at the prestigious Fesival Mundial, 4 national radio slots and a television interview. He even had time to work in the studio with Dutch TV personality and singer, Leoni Jansen, on a duet version of his song "Ja Gese." Chris and his team are already looking forward to returning in October for several gigs in London, Germany, and then a 3 week long theater tour in the Netherlands. Those gigs will be added to the gig guide within the week so you can start booking your seats. Thanks to the fans for making the tour such a success and we look forward to seeing you in a few short months!
Klassieke Chameleon debuts at #6 on DKNT

Recent European Tour - Great success!
At the end of November, Chris Chameleon returned to South Africa after an immensely successful tour of Holland, Belgium, and London. Having played both solo gigs as well as supporting popular Dutch band 'Spinvis' (www.spinvis.nl) on a theatre tour, and doing two interviews on Dutch National Radio (Radio 1 and 3) Chris reached thousands of new fresh ears, and the response was incredible! Many thanks to Chris' record label in Holland, Excelsior Recordings, for all their support, thanks to Spinvis for giving Chris the opportunity to support, and of course all the fans old and new for making the experience worthwhile! Klassieke Chameleon wins
From 25 - 29 September, Chris’ production "Klassieke Chameleon" had a week long run at the Aardklop National Arts Festival in Potchefstroom. It was the first production at this year’s festival to sell out, Chris received the coveted "People’s Choice Award" for the production. Klassieke Chameleon is an exciting mix of Chris’ popular songs as well as Italian classics such as "O Sole Mio" and "Caruso." Chris was backed by an incredible 7-piece band consisting of a cello, violin, double bass, flute, percussion, keyboards and guitar.
